Hello
Looking for a engine & Transmission cradle preferably on wheels here in the UK most of the stands I have seen are for just engines and I dont really want to split the transmission again ;-)
I had the same challenge. I used a 1,000 lb hydraulic lift table. I fabricated two engine mounts from 1-1/2" tube and plate. and bolted them to the table. I welded some grade 8 bolts to the underside of the top plate which act as studs to bolt the engine down. I use a few rubber blocks and a piece of aluminum tube under the transaxle. It's very stable, on rollers, the height is adjustable and it's useful for other tasks when the engine and transaxle are installed in the car.
When I rebuilt my Ferrari 250 engine (128F) some time ago, I made a dolly out of 2x4s. V-12 Ferrari engines of that era used four mounting points so it would have been similar to what you are asking about. The dolly supported the engine mounts and had casters on the bottom so it could be rolled around the shop easily. Why not build one yourself?
thanks, I may try to adapt the crate the engine was delivered in
I saw these on ebay but by the time I get them to the UK they are $61.79 to buy + Ship $36.58 + Import Tax $24.73
I dont have a welder or the time to buy and learn
I might build a frame from some wood and forgo the wheels
Neville. I have used the style you show above. They are incredibly strong. I have used them with a heavy automatic transmission on them at the same time and they work great.

Like you mentioned, I turned the crate into an engine stand with casters. I only needed it for work on the front and rear of the engine so it worked out.

Combo engine/ gearbox assembly and maintenance table as well as welding and general purpose table. I just used it yesterday to build a fireplace screen. All in about 300 bucks in materials and you will never have to assemble the engine and gearbox on the floor again as well as thousand other uses.
