I have used Phil's aluminum cutting method in the past. It does make nice, clean cuts, but the thinner material has a tendency to jump around, if not clamped down tightly. You can avoid kickback by reversing the blade. Be careful that the saw doesn't try to run away from you though.

Metal shavings aren't exactly "eye friendly".
They WILL be flying everywhere using the saw method!
