It isn't the ads really, but the server right now. They are investigating and overload situation that occurs after/during backup, and, that happens in the early AM my time which would affect UK browsers the most. The solution is probably going to be to move to a dedicated server.
Don't worry about the Google ads either, they are going away soon. They don't generate the revenue that was hoped to keep GT40s.com afloat.
