Rob, I agree. To create more structure for my tow hook I removed the 4 1/4 inch bolts (2 on each side) that hold the aluminum side panals on to the chassis at the top. I re-drilled the holes to 3/8 and put a bolt all the way through with a nut on the inside. I think it should be stong enough for a low speed (winch) tow but I would never use it as a jack point. I really don't think it would make much sense to use them on the original cars. We can talk about how we could use them but why?
