Both are wonderful cars. The SPF is a little more authentic/true to the original IMHO, and, the base leve of suspension looks to be a little beefier than the CAV. For out-of-the-box track work I'd have more confidence in the SPF probably. However, the CAV is very friendly to use, easy to drive, less expensive and has a very high level of build quality. Also, I love the stainless steel chassis of the CAV - the welds are absolutely artistic in nature and it's brutally strong. For primarily street use, I'd stick with my CAV (early mono) and have another $15,000 in the bank, but, you can't go wrong with either.

Sounds like you want a lot of power in your gt40. 500+ is a LOT of power in a 2,500lb car - don't let it get away from you. Good luck and have fun!
