The gear box in my chart is from the 2,7TDI as of 2005. but some of your ratios above are similar. If you look close to my chart, you will see that the first gear is a 3.5 and the 3.88 you are talking about is the ring and pinion ratio. So don´t compare and interchange those two ratios
