Hi Folks,
I just read the recent posts on this thread as I'd somehow missed them at the posting time.
With respect to how Google indexes information on the web, well, that is very complex. My company (not GT40.com) uses two people exclusively to optimize information for Google at a fairly great expense. Large companies have a huge staff devoted to the topic.
You cannot change the indexing of this thread in Google's search engines by posting new information on the thread. In fact, posting more responses on the "1086 for sale on Ebay" thread will result in it having a slightly higher relevance in Google rankings. Google looks at the thread and content, find there are more posts there and more mentions of "P1086", a keyword it is indexing, and the Google ranking increases.
Only a few things can change how this thread gets indexed on Google - delete the thread entirely (might still show up on
thewaybackmachine.com), or have another page on another site contains more "1086" relevance. However, the relevance of a page also is linked to its age, therefore, as this thread is quote old it may never be supplanted.
As always, your mileage may vary and I'm sure someone on the site is far more skilled and knowledgable about how Google works than I am.
Ron
