F1 in 2016

OK. The company who are going to be producing C4's coverage is called Whisper Films. Who they? A grown up specialist sports promotion media outfit. Who are the prime movers in Whisper Films? Sunil Patel, David Coulthard and Jake Humphrey that's who.

Not only that, the Beeb have effectively "sublet" FTA F1 by contributing £10 million per anuum to Ch4, thus effectively saving them a further £25 million pa for either paying Bernie off or seeing out their contract.

I'm posting this here because it seems the most appropriate forum.

McLaren Cars have recently launched the 675LT, a coupe version of, of of, I dunno...there's just so many of them.:stunned:

In under two weeks they have sold out of the entire limited production run of 500 models at £286,000 a pop.

That's a cool £145 million ($232,000,000).

Almost enough to pay Fernando Alonso's salary AND run an F1 team!

That's serious bucks for a small volume producer, and remember, that's only one of 6 models they now produce.

It seems like Ron has got the hammer down... :)

By comparison, it's hard to believe now, but there were only 64 examples of the (in)famous McLaren F1 ever built.

I wonder if they will go head to head with the new Ford GT? There have been some examples running around European race series, and where they've entered, they've been very successful, but no "factory" team as such..

What is even more interesting (to an engine head like me) is that their 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 lump, used throughout the McLaren range, has it's roots in an Indycar design produced by Ricardo, has proven to be 100% reliable..

Who's market do you think McLaren has tapped into, Ferrari? Or is it just "speculators?"

Renault/lotus deal now set in stone, enough water having passed under the bridge for the public to have forgotten the Renault crashgate scandal involving Piquet jnr.

As predicted in post #41 David Coulthard's company, Whisper Films will get the contract to produce Channel 4's FTA F1 effort with David Coulthard getting the lead presenters slot (naturally, my company, my rules Jimmie).

No place for Suzi or Eddie 'The Mouth' Jordan it seems...

Won't really miss Suzie 'no 'ips' Perry, far too fluffy and lightweight for such a serious presentation...:) Did I mention too old? No? That too...

Jonathan Neale, the acting CEO of McLaren Racing, has been appointed CEO of the entire McLaren Technology Group, and Jost Capito, Volkswagen’s Director of Motorsport, has been appointed CEO of McLaren Racing, supported by Racing Director Eric Boullier, who will work closely with both Jonathan and Jost. The timing of these change is yet to be settled as Capito must work out a settlement with his current employer.
I wonder where Ron fits in all this?

Seen at the recent Racing Car Show at the NEC.
Not sure it will go so quick on left handed circuits :lipsrsealed:

"YOU CAN EXPECT" Daniel Ricciardo to join Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari in 2017... "FACT" Ferrari tried to sign Daniel early 2014, prior to them signing Sebastian.... "FACT" the whole Valtteri Bottas to replace Kimi Raikkonen rumour for 2016 was a smokescreen / propaganda from Ferrari for the media and the sheeple ( Claire Williams tried unsuccessfully to SELL Valtteri Bottas's contract to Ferrari because Williams was/is in financial difficulty, nothing more ) " FACT" Kimi's manager David Robertson, had secretly negotiated a 1 yr extension mid 2015 season . "FACT" Sebastian Vettel has NO say whatsoever in which driver Ferrari sign for the future. " FACT" Maurizio Arrivabene ( Ferrari Boss ) said Sebastian Vettel is not Ferrari's 'number 1' driver , one of the first things he told Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen in 2015 is that the hierarchical days of Schumacher and Alonso are over. Ohhh, the F1 politics
