BRM Wheels A possible new source.

I receive many private mails and read on this site many requests for information and "easier" sources for BRM wheels.
I,m in serious conversation with a specialised foundry in UK and will probably be looking at mid March for the casting of the first batch for me of 15" wheels. Now in order to get the price well down i am keen to know how many of you out there would be SERIOUSLY interested in procuring them in 15" or 16" diameters. They are two piece wheels, back welded, polished rims and for pin drive fitting only.I don,t want set orders now but just a serious idea of how many could be required in order to obtain a good price. We are probably looking at around £225 per wheel at present which is very good and would save a lot of headaches in trying to get hold of the other elusive maker(s).
Just remember, no time wasters, just serious enquiries. The more potential orders, the cheaper the price!
Regards,
GTA Racing.

Re: BRM Wheels A possible new source.

Just a PS to my last mail.I already run on BRM wheels and have pushed them to the limit in hard racing as have the hill climb boys. The strength and quality is guaranteed.

Re: BRM Wheels A possible new source.

To all who have shown provisional interest in BRM wheels. Good news is that foundry have given thumbs up to casting centres and am now waiting for costings on rim machining.
Will post information when i receive it.
Regards,
Graham @ GTA/Gulf Racing.

Graham, what is the chance of 17 inch rims? Available backspacings?

Re: BRM Wheels A possible new source.

Sorry,
NO to 17".
15 and 16 inches only and only pin drive type.Very favourable discussion with foundry and now awaiting some detailed costings. Full machining and rim polishing with non painted centres to allow for individuals to paint to requirements and rear hub face left plain so that you can machine pin hole spacing/diameter to suit your particular hub.
We wait with baited breath as to outcome!!!
Regards,
GTA.

Re: BRM Wheels A possible new source.

CAV produces "BRM" style wheels in 15 and 17 inch which would cost around 200 pounds per wheel. The wheels are one piece die cast and excellent quality. See our website at cav.co.za for details on the rim and then our new website cavholdings.com. (as of 1/4/2003)

Re: BRM Wheels A possible new source.

OK CAV,
I better abandon my ideas if you can produce fully machined, heat treated and race tested BRMs.
Can you supply me with two sets with unmachined pin drive holes and guarantee specification sheets?
Can you produce 14" wide rims @ 15" diameter and can you vary the in/out sets as well.
I have been inundated with private mails showing provisional order interest because of my insistence of the very best specification of materials and machining from the foundry and racing wheel rim manufacturer and a sensible projected costing and guaranteed availability if i go ahead with production. Our construction is two piece, back welded, crack tested and lighter than the currently available rims (if you can get them).
Please reply ASAP as you have a potential large order from around the world ONLY if your specifications are sound as i, for one, will be running these wheels on the limit in our racing programme here in UK and my life depends on their strength.Others will want to know this too.
Regards,
GTA/Gulf Racing.

Re: BRM Wheels A possible new source.

CAV/GTA RACING, What is your Insurance cover value for any claim resulting from your supply of these wheels? If a wheel should be the cause of any accident/claim, it is obviuosly important to know that the supplier is insured, Frank

Re: BRM Wheels A possible new source.

Probably the same as yours Frank with the bits and pieces you do.
What a question to ask when i,m still waiting for prices and delivery times. Anyway i had not got you down on the list of potential customers as originally asked for to give me an order number to work on with the foundry!!
As it happens i have an insurance policy upto £5 million. And yours is?
