ZF Gearbox

I am not sure that this post is in the right spot, but here goes...

A very good friend of mine has managed to acquire an absolutely top-notch Pantera, less engine & gearbox. It was the result of a nasty divorce & it seems like the wife got the car, but the husband managed to make off with the engine & g'box (how he did this in the dead of night is a real puzzle - perhaps his name was Arnie !). The husband has gone totally missing, along with the Pantera's good bits, so my friend is on the lookout for a ZF g'box (he has an engine sourced already).

If anyone knows where a ZF unit can be found, it would be great to help put the old girl together again. Even though it is not a '40, it still is a Ford (sort of) !

Kind Regards,

Peter D.

Re: ZF Gearbox

Try MAP Inc in St Petersburg, Florida, USA. They are a major Pantera supply outlet, and they will have what you need. Ask for Marino Perna.

Re: ZF Gearbox

Hello Peter !!!!

Last week, there was a NOS one on ebay. Starting bid on it was $5000.00 US. It closed with no bids on it. The description was this :

New old stock in original crate. Type: 5DS-25-2 Part Number: D16Y-7000-C Ratios: 1-2.23 2-1.47 3-1.04 4-.846 5-.705 Differential: 4.22-1

You can search for it under competed auctions for "transaxle" or look for auction # 2409011281

I hope this helps !!

Re: ZF Gearbox

Brian & Jim,

Thanks for the leads on the ZF g'boxes - I'll pass the info on to Joe. His Pantera is one of the best I have seen (apart from the missing bits) & it will be nice to see it back on the road.

Kind Regards,

Peter D.
