Handbuilt Mercedes SLR

I know this is off topic, as it is not a GT40 replica......
....BUT I think it is worth taking a look at, as someone has put an enormous amount of work into this.

see the pics on this page web page

Alain,

Jim said it best...amazing! Thanks for the chronological photos. If I remember right, that car was in 1955 and undefeated that year (please correct me if I'm wrong on on this).

Have fun!

Someone finally DID make chicken salad out

of chicken $#!T.

I wonder how many hours to go from Step 1

to the finished product?

My hat's off to the builder! Amazing work!

Re: Handbuilt Mercedes SLR

I think the very first version of thew SLR wasa in 53 or 54. Being a Mercedes guy, I should know this stuff, but I've always had a tough time with remembering event dates.

I do believe that 55 was the year of the big accident which caused MBZ to withdraw from competing again until the mid eighties.

Re: Handbuilt Mercedes SLR

Jim,

Thanks. I thought it looked kind of streamlined as compared to the one I read about a long time ago.

Have fun!

Re: Handbuilt Mercedes SLR

I think Stirling Moss and Dennis Jenkinson won the 1955 Mille Miglia in a 300SLR in 1955, closer to a gullwing than this new car. Regards
