MK II Body Panels

Chris

Glad to hear that you're close to offering
MK II rear clips. How about the front?

Is the only difference between MK I
and MK II the raised wheel arches?
Or are there other differences?

I was wondering how easy/hard it would be to modify an existing MK I nose to match
the MK II.

Thanks
MikeD

Re: MK II Body Panels

Hi Mike

The MK11 front came from the MK1 after it was noticed that the tires on the heavier cars, especially on banked tracks were rubbing through the tops of the front fenders.
to start with they cut holes in the fenders above the tires as a stop gap. Then they raised the profile by around two inches.

Re: MK II Body Panels

If that's the only difference, maybe someone create e a mold and make arches that can be grafted onto an existing front clip?

Or is that too difficult and an all new front clip is the only way to make it
look correct?

Re: MK II Body Panels

Hi Mike
I would say that is a good option, I already have wider original MK1 rear arches that extend the narrow original MK1 rear clip to the wider MK1 style.
So yes it could be done to the front fender profile.

Regards
Chris.

Re: MK II Body Panels

The MK2 radiator opening is also wider by about an inch.

Re: MK II Body Panels

Thanks Bob.

Makes sense considering the additional
cooling requirement of the 427.
