Hey Lynn, I just went in my shop and measured the edge of the panel I have from #1017. It's closer to 3/4" wide. On the original cars the nostril panels were made in two pieces.; the top and the underside. The underside is shapped to form around the front edge of the spare tire and form a splitter of the exit air. I compared #1017 and #1030 panels and they were identical. I make this panel if anyone needs one. You are correct about grinding the corners of the nose opening to get the panel to fit. It's a pretty tight fit!

Measurements are meant for identification purposes only, NOT fitment.
When I said ~1", that meant 1" at a WAG from photo :-)

All of the pictures are great. I have a question in regard to the body latching. Where are they at? Or what retains the body down? I do not see what holds the body sections down.
