Rep Power: 25 | First drive. Well, took my GTD for its first drive today after buying it a few weeks ago.
It's not been driven for nine years so has had some re-commisioning done, new fuel lines, etc.
The first drive was down to a local garage for it's first MOT since 1994!
A couple of things I noticed, firstly, you've got to have small feet/shoes to make sure you hit the brakes first time (always a bonus that!) and secondly, who put that dirty great big carb in the way of the rear view mirror? I can see why you guys have the quad carbs now, nothing to do with power, it's so you can see down the gap in between them!
Seriously, what a buzz I was expecting to feel very low down but didn't at all (maybe that's different in the US where you guys have lots of SUV's to look up at)
Looking forward to seeing some of you at the meetings around the London area.

Rep Power: 9 | Re: First drive. Nice one Simon, really pleased for you. Know what you mean about the brake, having size 13 plates of meat myself. Considered surgery, but I get by with the right footwear
Rearward visibility wise, I was very pessimistic at first, but was actually pleasantly surprised when I first drove mine. Maybe the Dax is better, will have to check that one out since it is slightly taller.
But I do want to get out of the car and check before using reverse

In case you didn't know it. That was the first day of the rest of your life. Your life has just changed and will never be the same again. No one has to tell you how you feel. Owning and driving your own GT-40 is one of the most personal experiences you will ever have. It will never leave you eather. I have a CAV and if you pay more attention you will notice that you look up at everything else including Corvets and Miatas. Here are a couple of shots of my " BLUE BEAUTY ". Good luck with your new baby.
