Rep Power: 4 | Searching for ex-Ford GT40 Greetings,
My boss, Cameron Argetsinger (President of Watkins Glen International during the glory days of F1 among other accomplishments) had a GT40 in 1967, a Ford-owned machine in red with black trim. We're attempting to recognize the car based on the Spain book by chassis# but there doesn't appear to be an obvious choice. We were thinking 1068 but a search here in the forums indicted that that car is all-original, currently sitting in a garage.
As the curator/librarian here at the International Motor Racing Research Centern I need to save face! Does anyone have any clues? |

Do you have any photos? It could be one of a few cars.
As you are are the librarian at the IMRRC, I guess you already have the following program, which might well show the car that Mr Artensinger had the use of in 1967. Well, at least it's red, it's a MK1 GT40, it's the right year and it's at Watkins Glen ...
Cheers
Rob
PS I see that a website I put together is still the only 'single make' website recommended on the IMRRC's links page. AND it's about a Japanese car... |

Rep Power: 4 | Re: Searching for ex-Ford GT40 Thanks-- yes indeed, we do have that program. We do have photos of the car, taken by Mr. Argetsinger at SCCA's headquarters in 1967. There is a photo of the dash board that might provide clues, though the switchgear might have been standard for road cars (complete with stick-on labels for the controls).
I almost forgot-- through the courtesy of its generous owner, we have chassis #1083 on display her until March! |

Rep Power: 29 | Re: Searching for ex-Ford GT40 Take a look at the bottom of the main index page. There is a section: Forum Questions, Help, and Suggestions which includes help on how to upload pictures. In short, make sure the the "I want t opreview my post and/or attach a file" is checked when creating your post. In the next screen, under your text there will be an area to Browse and pick the file from your file system to upload. It must be <= 100K in size and only certain formats are allowed. If you don't want to reduce the size of the image, try putting it into a zip file (one of the allowed formats) and upload it that way. It won't display in your post, but readers will be able to download it and view it on their machine.
Regards,
Lynn |
