Rep Power: 9 | Best Top Gear ever? I've just finished watching this weeks BBC Top Gear programme which featured a 1970s Ford Escort rally car losing to a modern day RS Focus, a 1980s Audi Quatro rally car losing to a current Mitsibishi Evo and a new Noble 400 being BEATEN by ( yes, you guessed it ) a GT40 !!
This was followed by Alonso's Renault F1 car lapping the Top Gear track in 59 secs, which is about 20 seconds quicker than any other car has ever done it - the Enzo was the fastest so far.
More shows like this please!
Clarkson - some respect restored! |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: Best Top Gear ever? So who can get a video of this posted somewhere? It seems you Brits have the unfair advantage of getting some colorful programming over there. I'd love to be able to see it... Anyone? Anyone???
Thanks in advance...

| Re: Best Top Gear ever? It was another enjoyable show indeed. I enjoyed the "race" from Guildford (UK) to a ski resort in Switzerland with one team going by bus train & plane and the Jeremy going by Ferrari 612. Much more exciting and with a closer finish than any stupid F1 race I have seen for a long time.
On the old v new car race they should have used a new GT against the old 40. Maybe that would have upset Ford execs so Clarkson would have been forced to give his car back! |

Rep Power: 8 | Re: Best Top Gear ever? GT40 v Noble completely and utterly meanlingless!!!???
Restores Clarkson credibility? Thats a laugh!!! Even the race of plane v Ferrari 612 felt false!! The only one that felt real was the Bobsleigh and the rally car!

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Best Top Gear ever? Alan,
I saw the point in that part anyway. I took the meaning to be that if you get a car with sorted suspension and dial it right you can beat electronics... 40 years on. But then again, an XJ220 does accelerate fastre then a Zonda.

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Best Top Gear ever? Don't forget guys, it's not a car programme any more, it's entertainment (the only car show my wife and daughters wil watch) and in my opinion, all the better for it.
The show could be about anything and it'd still be entertaining.
I think the GT40 was an original? looked/sounded lovelleeeee. |

Rep Power: 11 | Re: Best Top Gear ever? Thanks - yes Ray Bellm's 1018 - quite beautiful - especially with its racing roundels removed - as to Stig I heard they used a fake Stig supplied by Renault to drive their F1 car - Kovalainen perhaps - real Stig is usually now Ben Collins I think - used to be Perry McCarthy |

Rep Power: 26 | Re: Best Top Gear ever? Hi guys! I now have this on my hard drive as an AVI file. It is astonishingly good quality (as it should be). Now, I can get this converted to DVD multi-region format early in the new year via a local studio and create a master. I am happy to burn DVD's of the entire program and distribute them. But, (there is always a but), this time, there is a cost involved. The studio time to do this comes out at around £200, but I can get it done for £100 for the master. My time is free, the postage and DVD cost is negligible, and I guess I am saying that ifn' you overseas guys want this in DVD format, the more you order the cheaper it gets. Each DVD disc with postage should amount to around £2 + production costs. So, if only one guy wanted it - I would ask for £102. Geddit?
Of course, if some smartypants with his shiny new DVD recorder recorded it from the TV, then it's already out there. But..if they didn't? Well, here I am. One more thing. For copywright purposes this is for review only, so I would be interested to hear your critical comments on this program.
The program is 57 minutes long. For anyone wishing to download, it takes between 3 hours and 2 days depending on connection speed. Mine took 2.5 hours on ADSL running .75 megabit.
Anyone interested please PM me headed "DVD" or email direct. For security reasons I will not respond to requests for the package on this public forum.
Going Christmas shopping now which just goes to show that I continue to decline with age. It used to be 4pm on Christmas Eve. |

Rep Power: 9 | Re: Best Top Gear ever? Yeah, the small file, is the torrent file. You have to download that, open it and it will start the real download. If you have all the right preferences it happens automatically.
I have downloaded the clip now. I'm actually downloading a few others. I've remained connected and actually acting as a seed(another download source for that clip now).
Now just got to watch it. |

Rep Power: 26 | Re: Best Top Gear ever? For anyone wishing to download, Craig is quite correct. One thing though, your firewall may prohibit this action and you disable it at your peril. Another important point: as this is a peer to peer download, you will automatically be part of the upload process for others wishing to acquire this file. It would therefore be impolite to quit when you have received the whole file and etiquette would demand that you stay on line and allow a full upload to 100% (at a much slower speed) until this is achieved. In the meantime, if you want a professional quality DVD instead - please PM me.
Happy happy Christmas to y'all.
