Rep Power: 7 | GT40 & Ford GT I have a CAV GT40 which is a great car and I am still making modifications, incl a larger engine (427 EFI).
I received my Ford GT (see "Birth" thread) and I think Ford did a great job in making it so close to the original. It is a Supercar, nothing else describes it. I recently had it at Walnut Creek Ford (CA)where the Ford specialist supervised the installation of superb new control arms and did a full pre-delivery checkup. Walnut Creek Ford and Ford know exactly how to treat an owner a "Supercar". They also fitted a plate-cam for me, so I can view behind when in reverse. That is a great asset, and I am fitting one to my GT40. The Ford GT is docile on the road or in heavy traffic, yet instantly can become a race car. Its a thrill and it hugs the corners. The car is everything claimed.

Rep Power: 7 | Re: GT40 & Ford GT In reference to Alain's question. I can fix that little problems for you. You can let ME pick one to drive, and YOU can have what's left on any given day. Now THATS a deal I don't think you should pass up. Ha Ha. |

Rep Power: 14 | Re: GT40 & Ford GT Unfortunately I don't own a new Ford GT. However Alan and I had the pleasure of running at SAAC 9 in our CAV and GTD along with the Super Bowl 04 Red GT and it was great. The GT hauled, even in the rain. It is not a production unit and has had some extensive track time and tuning, probably by the Shelby group. |

Kalun I understand the new GT to be 10% bigger. Hence my GT44 monicker. Strike2 can tell us exactly when he goes out to measure as he spends hours looking at,sitting in, and most of all driving these babies. |

You are great and I appreciate all the comments.
I intend to get them side by side, fronts and rears, when my GT40 is complete from the engine change.
Just not sure which is better - I think they are both great fun. The Ford GT is refined and quiet, while the GT40 is more difficult to get in, louder but performs great.
I started with an SPF Cobra, which I would not part with and its in the blood with all of us.
I decided mid last year that there had to be way to get a Ford GT and I had to have it. That's about the long and short of it. It will be at Club Cobra breakfast at Athens Saturday.
