Thanks for the steer from CK and Jimmymac. I found a car set made in solid aluminium rather than zinc alloy. The hinges at the top and bottom of the Mini door are cast over to allow for the door shape.
The picture shows theangle of the lower hinge the top are cast over more. I machined the hinges square. The result is two pairs after a bit of pollishing
