MK IV at LeMans

After Gurney / Foyt won in 67' with their big block, did any MK IV's
run the following year with the "rules required" small block engine?

Re: MK IV at LeMans

Nope....nada, none, no way, no how. The Mk IV was a "one year wonder" and obsolete after 1967.

Re: MK IV at LeMans

MK-IV's were prototypes thus would have had to run 3 liter motors in 68.
As Rick said didn't happen and if it had they wouldn't been competitive against 5 liter "Sports Cars".

Re: MK IV at LeMans

And the Gulf cars were homologated, correct? Thus the return to the MkI body and 289?

Re: MK IV at LeMans

After 67, homologated cars were allowed up to 5 liter powerplants, hence the 302 in both '68 and '69. Nothing wrong with the 289 mind you but, as it's been said, there's just no substitute for cubic inches...
