GT40s @ Silverstone...

Hi all -

After towing Martin's GTD up to Silverstone last Wed where we met club members Bjorn and Nadine with the Viper Coupe, I thought some pics might be in order too... - Enjoy..

1 - Martin Weigold's '6 GTD' in the pits
2 - Mike Wilds prepares for a run in the GTD on Blue Streaks
3 - 6 GTD on track
4 - 6 GTD queueing in pit lane after a 'red flag' halted the session - (gives a great idea of size in relation to more modern machinery)
5 - 6 GTD in the pack on pit straight
6 - 6 GTD rear into turn one

Re: GT40s @ Silverstone...

Finally - there were lots of other nice vehicles there too - including:

15 - Aston
16 - Mosler GT (Hope Tesco gave them plenty of Lambda Sensors! )
17 - Nice Porker on track
18 - and you might recognise the Black and Yellow (flash) porker here too - it was the one that forum member Malcolm drove at Britcar 2006 -
Nice car John!

Re: GT40s @ Silverstone...

So - a great time was had and it was nice and sunny too! Martin obviously brought some of his Gibraltarian weather with him

I have some video footage too that I'll try to sort and post either later tonight - or more likely tomorrow.

I was trying out a new camera/lens I picked up the day before so will hopefully improve my 'on track shots' with practice (1st time use of monopod - which definately takes some getting used to...)

Comments?

Re: GT40s @ Silverstone...

Well - somewhat later than expected - I've now pieced a video clip together of the Silverstone visit. Excuse the less than perfect camera work as it's been a while.. but the sound track is great...

Just to explain a little further, Martin's GTD shows some smoke occasionally which was not the engine, but an occasional 'rub' on the outside rear Blue-Streak tyre.. It only did it when there were two occupants and when driven very hard through right-handers.. Something that the instructor Mike Wilds managed repeatedly.

The clip also includes some footage of Bjorn's Viper - which Mike also drove, and flippin heck it was fast!! Nadine was the lucky occupant as passenger and remarked afterwards that the experience was just awesome..

Anyway - click on the link below or 'right-click' and 'save-as' to save a copy to your own pc. The file is about 30MB in size (sorry) and I have a 125MB version which is much better quality but has proved difficult to post, so see how you get on with this one first...

http://www.gtd40club.co.uk/videos/Si...rch%202007.wmv

ps - On another note I threw caution to the wind, took a deep breath, wiped my laptop hard drive and installed Vista Ultimate on Sat evening and thus far, it's been great... (still that's only 24hrs so far )

pps - Martin/Bjorn - I'll mail DVDs of all footage Tue/Wed to each of you.
