Chassis # GT40 P / 1088

Hello all! I have been a lurker for a while. Great site. For no other reason than fun I am starting to keep track of vintage car prices. I see the "continuation" #1088 is for sale at 1088 For Sale What would this car go for today? Around $750,000? A GT40 actually built in the 60's goes for $1.5 to $2.0 million depending on race history?

Thanks to all for helping to educate a dreamer.

Re: Chassis # GT40 P / 1088

Safir prices have been all over the map. I recall one crossing the block in 2006 in Monterey for $180k. There are other reported sales in the $300k to $400k range. $750k seems optimistic but you never know...

Re: Chassis # GT40 P / 1088

This is the description from their site:
John Willment Automotive (JWA) took over production and development of the Ford GT40 road and race cars from Ford Advanced Vehicles (FAV) at the end of 1966. At the conclusion of JWA's association with the GT40 programme in 1969, they had three unassembled GT40's left. These parts were designated for chassis 1087, 1088 and 1089, the last three of the Ford-sanctioned run of 90 production vehicles.

In 1994, John Willment decided to 'finish the job' and build the final three cars utilising many of the essential parts he had stored since 1969 and using the original factory drawings. P/1088 was in fact built for John's daughter, Janet Willment and was constructed to the same technical specification as the definitive 1968/69 Le Mans cars -

Engine: Ford 302 - 4942cc capacity
Cylinder heads: Aluminium Gurney-Weslake
Carburettors: Weber 48 IDA
Gearbox: ZF 5DS-25 / Type Zero
Brakes: Girling ventilated disc
Wheels: BRM 15'' diameter rim with 10'' front and 14'' rear
Body:Lightweight moulded fibreglass with wide 'Gulf' rear bodywork arches

P/1088 remained in the ownership of Janet Willment until being sold privately in 2006. Although never raced, P/1088 comes with full, current F.I.A. HTP paperwork (period - GR) together with a UK V5 registration and MOT certificate.

An opportunity to acquire an originally numbered GT40 in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition, which is available for immediate use either in historic competition and/or on the road.
