Re: Interesting thread

The Gold Mark II in Australia is cool. Did I read that correctly in that it had a 2 speed auto?

Does the car still exist?

Re: Interesting thread

he last photo (of 1046) shows an NZ decal just in front of the drivers door. Does anyone have a clearer picture of this?

Thanks,

Brian.

Re: Interesting thread

Like this:

All credit goes to Craig B building his MDA Mk II that did the research, I created the decal for him - a rare find!

Re: Interesting thread

Couple of other things that strike me as odd in the picture of the Gold car and it's placard;
Quote:
Ratios 1ST 1.29:1 2ND 1.04:1
Diff: Limited Slip 2.5:1
Even with an snortin' FE - This thing must have been a real pig off the line..
2spd automatic - with rare exception to cars like Packards etc - These are rare transmissions other than the old Ford-o-matic and Chevy Powerglide. But they were 1:1 2nd gear.
The Ford-O-Matic was a huge and heavy cast iron lump as was the pre `62 Powerglide. Both of them were Hernias waiting to happen...

Would be interesting in a Rollover eh?

Re: Interesting thread

I know you HP crazy guys only notice the performance figure's, but you might like to take note of the suspension settings & spring rates etc . Save you a lot of time if you have this baseline for initial setup and you might find your cars get thru the corners 10% faster & carry that speed all the way down the straight bits. Lowest cost HP you will ever get!!

Randy- remember to multiply that low gear ratio by the Torque Converter factor which could be around 2.25 to 1 depending on how it was setup.

Maybe that's why some of the Top Fuel guys in the U.S. use Cheby powerglides--they only have time for 1 gear change in that rush to the end of that 1/4 mile!

Re: Interesting thread

All you suspension gurus might note that the front springs are much stouter than the rears. This is exactly what Steve Duck at RCD Suspension told me when I gave him the mounting angles etc. for my GTD. I didn't go as heavy as the 505 and 336 shown, as I use the car as much on the street as the track. I went with 325 front and 300 rear.
