What to visit ??

Hallo all

a buddy of mine and me are going to visit US from 2nd of April to 11th of April.
We will start in Detroit Michigan with visiting RCR on the 3rd.
We will end up in Maricopa AZ on the 10th. to visit LEVY RACING.

We will travel by car (to pitty they dont rent GT40īs, not even a Mustang GT if you return it to another renting station) across the states.

So the Question is what would we ( two car maniacs, mainly classic race cars) defenitely have to visit on our way from Michigan to Arizona ??

Any help and information welcome. If one of you members happen to be on the way, i also would love to make contact and meet personaly.

Thanks
TOM and ERIC

Re: What to visit ??

That really is not much time - but if in Detroit be sure to visit the Henry Ford Museum. It's well worth a visit. They have the Chris Amon Le Mans GT40 there - along with lots of other very interesting car and transportation stuff. A tour of the Ford Rouge plant in Detriot is a must. They make most of the F150's there. And if you can, stop in to Carmillo Pardo's studio (on Woodward Blvd) - he designed the Ford GT. Good guy. Have a great trip.

Gordo.

Cool Re: What to visit ??

Tom,
Totally agree with Gordo, the Ford Museum is a must. Additionally, the Chrysler museum is worth dropping by also. It is considerably smaller, but still worth the visit. You can stop by there on the way from Fran's to my house. Yes....I'll get some directions to you...

Re: What to visit ??

After visiting Detroit, drop down to I-70 and head due west to Denver, then north about 40 miles to Boulder. There you can visit the Shelby American Museum. You will see many original Cobras and several original GT40's. Just make sure to check the hours to make sure they will be open when you arrive. From there you can head south along the front range of the Rockies, then west to Airzona. The scenery is awewsome.

Re: What to visit ??

If you can get inside Rousch Protofab (Detroit) is also worth a visit. They do lots of race car fabriction and also a host of engine development for Ford and also those other engine manurfacturers.
Other possibilities in detriot is world products. All the Dart and World products gear is built there. Just along the road from World is Kinsler Fuel injection which is definitely rev head heaven.

Have a great trip!
