Rep Power: 7 | Color scheme opinions I have been pulling my hair out trying to nail down the color choice. So far, I have not seen a '40 that did not look good, but I hope to only paint once.
I had planned the usual Gulf scheme. That is still high on the list. But as my car is a bit unconventional, it feels a bit odd. Plus, I am not sure how I will feel about the toothpaste blue down the road. I do want to paint the car in a "racecar" way, if that makes any sense, so I have been trying out some different color and stripe ideas. Most our based on the silver, blue, and red of our family crest. But they are difficult to visualize as I don't have a car to stare at. Any opinions or impressions would be greatly appreciated.

| Re: Color scheme opinions I like the red and silver with the blue nose. Then as my car is red and silver that might explain why. (Use this as weak excuse to post picture of my car ).

Rep Power: 5 | Re: Color scheme opinions I like the blue but I think I would have it darker. Bill D's color choice is quickly getting towards the top for me, I love that dark blue.
I still will always love the red but I am not feeling the blue mustache... It seems you do not like side stripes?

Rep Power: 6 | Re: Color scheme opinions I feel your pain! I went from red and white to dark blue and gold to orange and black (still like that one) to blue and orange (dark Gulf). I am now set on the later as the chassis is powder coated dark blue and the roll bar and other parts are orange. I thought it looked great until Bill posted his in paint and I realized mine will not look as good. Anyway, I just dropped it off for paint and we will see next month!

Rep Power: 3 | Re: Color scheme opinions I like the 3rd choice (Blue with silver stripe bordered in black and red) The yellow is bold and different and I quite like that too. Reminds me of the Ferrari daytona. I'm not too sure about the centre stripe and the moustache together on the other two.
As everyone else has said, probably the most difficult decision of the build..
Good luck,
Martin |

If I resprayed my car, I would probably go with a very dark blue/green.

Rep Power: 14 | Re: Color scheme opinions Look at Ronnie Spain's book. Also have you considered some of the striping layouts as used onthe lemans MK II's. 2nd and 3rd place 1966 cars come to mind. Pick your colors and be creative, unless you want "authentic". Then your hands are tied.

Rep Power: 18 | Re: Color scheme opinions I'm going white
Stickers / Decals will be done to suit the mood (Possible the Martini stuff some time with the kick up stuff going into the plenum duct under the rear glass
Initially I'm going to try monochrome White with black sill and top stripes
