Frederick "Rick" Mclean is wanted for multiple counts of child molestation in San Diego County. He has been on the run since September of 2004. Mclean used to own a company called "Autoworks, Ltd" that bought and sold vintage race cars. He specialized in Lola and Mclaren CAN-AM cars, but did deal in other vehicles.
In June of 2004, Mclean purchase this vehicle with the intention of re-selling it. In a letter, it was described by Mclean as "a 3/4 scale 1955 Chevy Coupe replica". Further investigation uncovered these photos and additional history about the car. It was one of six built by a company in Florida in a failed attempt to create a spec racing series. It is believed that the chassis was originally from a short track oval car and it was re-skinned as you see here. Oddly enough, Mclean had the car registered in California and it carries the license plate 4WQH018. It also has a VIN number of 2591. This car was last seen in a storage unit in San Jacinto, Ca.
Mclean worked for years in the vintage racing circles and was known by a number of people. The U.S. Marshals Service has contacted many of them that Mclean sold race cars and parts to as he was liquidating his inventory. Mclean used the cover story that he was going through a bad divorce and his wife was trying to take everything. This is blatantly false.
The two attached photos show Mclean with a moustache and clean shaven. The clean shaven photo was taken in June of 2004 and is the last known photo of Mclean. Mclean wore his moustache for 22 years before shaving it off when he became a fugitive.
It is believed that Mclean has changed his appearance and name.
Anyone with information about this car or Mclean's whereabouts is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals as soon as possible. All information provided will remain 100% confidential. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest of Mclean.
