GT40 at Ford Fair - Silverstone

Hi all -

I was up at the Ford Fair today at Silverstone, when I came across this in one of the Vendor Stalls.

On the TilePlans stand for garage flooring, was this 40 from South Africa.

It is a CAV with LS1 fitted and looked very nice from what I could see.

I've mentioned the forum to the new importer, so hopefully he'll be along at some point to introduce himself and answer any questions you might have..

Unhappy Re: GT40 at Ford Fair - Silverstone

Each to his own opinion, but I think that the only link between that and a GT40 is the similarity in body shape, other than that - ughh!

Re: GT40 at Ford Fair - Silverstone

Frank,
surely that 'only' similarity is true of pretty much all 'kit cars', or spaceframe replicas...

Many don't have the same brakes, steering, or even the same ZF transaxle, and a lot have different engines too. Sure, its not correct for the purist, but the CAV looks every bit as good as any of the other spaceframe cars on the market. The engine choice isn't to my taste either, but it wouldn't stop me considering the car if I were looking.

Maybe I've missed the point. Is the chassis flawed in some way, does it handle/go/stop like a bag of sh!t, or something else thats not obvious from the pictures ?

I think the floor looks superb, and the car would have almost certainly helped to draw people in. I'd be happy to have either in my garage

Early CAV's were spaceframes.
