Sad news from an Aussie Icon

Many Aussie GT40 owners will be sad to hear that Simmons Wheels has closed their business after many years making 3 piece wheels for the Aussie car enthusiasts. Another company will be looking after repairs and servicing of the wheels however it doesn't look as though any new wheels will be produced.

I have known Tony as a personal friend for many years,

He commenced making three piece wheels for racing cars circa 1968.

He could have sold the business, no problem, however he did not want to sell the name.

If you knew Tonys' fastidious approach to the quality of his wheels you would understand why.

Not many people know that Tony for a while manufactured clubman racing cars, in total about 8. I have the first (1965) and the last (1973) that he made.

A very successful businessman and a very down to earth bloke.

Sad to hear. I've always thought highly and proudly of this Aussie product. My son has Simmonds wheels on his car. They crop up everywhere, and always appeared symbolic of high quality to me, compared to the crappy Bling wheels you see cruising the streets.
