JWA GT40s

For a while, I have wondered why JWA had Mk I GT40s in the '68 and 69 LeMans events instead of IIs. My guess is that there were enough homologulated Mk I GT40s to enable entry into the Group 4 class, which permitted 5 liter engines during those years. Mk II GT40s were not sold in the market in enough numbers, so they were Group 6 prototypes, limited to three liters. Am I even close?

The short explanation is that after '67 there was a 5-liter limit at the Le Mans race, thus excluding the Mk II which has a 7-liter engine.
