More like Ford vs Aston Martin, with Ferrari a close 2nd and the odd Corvette. It's hardly a re-run though - there is no Ferrari factory team these days. It will be a fascinating battle though...

A couple of things spring to mind: Ford is being a little bit cute here, making comparisons with the GT40. They were exotic Prototypes back in the day (MKII & MKIV), akin to running in LMP1 today, a completely different animal from the GTE Pro Class they'll run in at Le Mans. i.e. street cars. :shifty:

Secondly, the Americans won't be very interested with it's V6 and all....

Plenty of videos to enjoy from Ford, stemming from today's announcement to return to Le Mans in 2016. Enjoy!

Figured I'd head this question off before it is asked....

...what are you guys doing that isn't working to try and share videos? All you need to do is find the video on YouTube, click the share icon at the bottom of the video, click the embed tab, then cut and paste the code it gives you into your post.

You are right but I would not use the word cute. In prototypes (Porsche, Audi and Toyota) word would not have a chance for instant success but in GTE Pro against "street cars" with a race car like the new Ford GT should have a much better chance. With the experience they have from the US should be a easy win but It will never be overall victory like 66 thru 69. the correct word should be smart.

Ford is V6 turbo are now installed in trucks and other sports cars from Ford (SHO) and next year the Raptor truck. They won Daytona 24 with this V6

Indeed. I am a big fan of a) turbocharging and b) the Ford Ecoboost engine. After watching the epic battle between Aston, Corvette and Ferrari in GTE Pro yesterday/today, I would say that the addition of Ford next year will be something special. The Corvette kicked some serious butt today but that is after years of huge GM financial involvement. Same for the Ferrari Italia and to a certain extent the Aston Martin. Porsche didn't have such a good year but they are also extremely well developed. Chip Ganassi will have his work cut out but they have already proven the drivetrain in 2 years of Daytona (and Sebring to an extent), so, all to play for.

Can't wait!

I got my daughter in lease a Ford Escape 4WD with 1.6 Ecoboost engine and it moves very good but if you are not careful the fuel miles go down very fast similar range to our 3.7 Edge (16MPG). The Corvette, Aston and Ferrari are street cars converted to race cars. the ford GT is a race car with 250 for the street. In Le Mans you remember who won overall and the others are fill in and that is what Ford will not get this time. But the Germans with two teams are impossible to win. Toyota should find a hole to hide after spending a ton of money in F1 and Le-Mans and nothing to show.

Yes, as reigning WEC Champions, Toyota got it very wrong this year. Audi and Porsche were just in a different league and what on earth were Nissan thinking with that LMP1 Nismo disaster? I don't know if anyone actually watched it live, but Nissan had live feeds on YouTube from the cockpits of the three cars. Notwithstanding they lost the KERS very early on and ended up dragging the deadweight batteries and MGU's around the circuit, but they were the exhaust pipes exiting the hood just in front of the windscreen..

WTF? Front engined front wheel drive? Panoz actually made the front engine concept work, a bit, but FWD? What were they thinking? The car had zero traction out of the corners and I wonder how much someone got paid for coming up with that idea. Someone said it was all part of their marketing strategy - to spectacularly fail. Yeah, right...

The Ferrari, Aston, Corvette, Porsche battles in GTE Pro/Am are very entertaining (not forgetting the awesome lone Viper this year) but we desperately need new blood in there. Ford are coming in at just the right time..

Guys, what do you think if a bunch of us from the states comes and brings our GT'S?
All of you were great 3 years ago when we drove around the world and met up at Classic LeMans.
Lets see what we can do.
