Dave you are right. In the northern territory there are no speed restrictions. This unfortunately is nowhere near the population centres where the speed limit is 60 mph or 100kph and at 130kph or 81mph you lose your licence.They had a legal "cannonball run" in the territory a few years back but a japanese dentist in a ferrari F40 arrived at a control in excess of 125mph and certainly killed himself and if I recall at least one other. the authorities lost their sense of humour over this and there has not been another . many years ago you could drive on the open road at high speed with the risk of being booked for dangerous driving,but with this hard to prove in court set limits were introduced. these are sold as safety measures but are really revenue driven... regards
