Length of 4.6

Anyone done a new 4.6 sohc or dohc? Considering upgrading old KVA. What is installed length of this motor relative to 289/302? Any clearance issues at bulkhead?

Thanx,
Kevin

Re: Length of 4.6

Someone was thinking about it in the old forum. They are wider engines, but about the same length. I've got the measurements in the FMS Catalog, I'll check them later.

A DOHC would be nice and perfect for the car. Someone also had some pictures of one of these going into a Pantera a couple of weeks ago - it was really tight but made it. Go for it!

Re: Length of 4.6

Kevin,

The length is not the issue, it's the width. Both 4.6s are WIDER than a 427! The fit would be tight and you will need to develop your own exhuast. I must say that a 4.6 DOHC would look really cool! I just would not want to be the guy who had to make it work!

I know for a fact that a 4.6 will not fit in an AC MK IV for example, it would require notching the footwell that will clear a 427 (save for the SOHC).
