Something you UK racers might want to try:

Rotate your pressure and temperature gauges so that when everything is in "the green" at speed, all needles point to
12 o'clock. It doesn't even take a glance to see when something is out of whack. I've
seen this done on a friend's race boat. At
120mph on the water, you don't have the time
to actually read your gauges. With this setup, it is easy to see when something is wrong, and still keep your eyes on the water
ahead of you. Seems to me it would work in a
race car as well. It might look a little silly, but it might save an engine or gearbox.
