Le Mans

thought I'd report on my GT40 spotting at Le Mans!

I only spotted 4, all weekend... a titanium & yellow GTD, registration A40 GEM (or similar), A dark metallic blue GTD, A Gulf coloured GTD & a high spec red GTD (quad webers & pin drives), that had hit a gulley & suffered some chassis damage.

Didn't see any 40's at the Chinese cafe on Friday! What happened to you guys?

Hi Julian
here are the ones that you missed!!

Robert Logan in the stands at the start of the 2002 Le Mans. Shame his black Mk11 was in the car park and not on the track!!

I will give you the story and some more photo's later,
Regards

Chris

Re: Le Mans

Now that's something I'm truly envious of...driving a GT40 to Le Mans.

Re: Le Mans

Surely I'm not the only one who noticed the very attractive woman who's sitting next to Robert, in the driver's seat, I might add.

Looks like a lot of fun. I just may take a temporary transfer to our UK office in a year or two so I can partake of such fine festivities.

Regards,
Mark

Re: Le Mans

Hi Mark
The attractive woman in the driver's seat was the TV presenter. The TV crew got her to drive Roberts car, Why do you think he took a drink?
We all got to talk to the TV crew and the program should be out later in the year. Here is an E-Mail that I got from them on my return.

Dear Chris,

Very many thanks for taking part in our GT40 film for the new Channel 5 television series DREAM MACHINE.

It was great to meet you and we are very pleased with the material we shot. I do hope that your car is fully recovered and that you had a safe uneventful journey back to the UK. It was a pity that you missed the Grande Parade des Pilotes!

Once the programme has been edited I will arrange for a VHS copy to be sent to you, but I think it will be early autumn before we are at that stage as we have the "build" to film yet.

We all enjoyed our trip to the Chateau and Le Mans, so thank you both for helping to make our visit such a success.

With many thanks.

Best wishes.

Re: Le Mans

Hi Jon

JUST DO IT!!!

Chris

Robert's MK11 RF40 arrived on the trailer from the South of France. Customs was a pain in the rear end!!! Three days and $15000 bond but it was worth it, the car is great.

Re: Le Mans

The very attractive woman has a name and a racing license : Amanda Stretton - presents various tv shows including pit lane coverage for some US motor racing as well as the series mentioned above

Re: Le Mans

The series with Ms Stretton and your footage begins on September 2 on Channel 5 at either 8 or 830 for eight weeks
