CAV CV joints

Hello, does anyone know what CV axles the CAV monos use? I believe my CV axles are somewhat worn and I'd like to replace. There's a marking of GLO4051 on one axle that I can see. Not sure if this is an audi CV or ?? Thanks in advance.

Nobody have any idea on this one?? I would think that some CAV owner out there has had to replace a CV joint or two but maybe not!

Cool cv joints

I don't know about the axles but the inner CV's are Porsche 930(110 mm) and the outer are a mid 80's Audi (90 mm).
I would not think that your axles would be worn but the outer CV's are pretty small and if you have more than a mild 302 they will not hold up very well.
There are several off road machine shops in San Diego and one of the next upgrades I am doing on my car will be new stub axles and a 930 cv on the outer end of the axle, and possibly a stronger axle shaft as well.

Thanks David, very helpful. I guess the CV from both the porsche and the audi have the same spline/diameter for the axle shaft?

When you say "930" you mean only the 911 turbo CV, or, the CV from the standard 911?

Thanks.

Hi Cliff,

If you determine that the axles are indeed worn, we have them in stock. As Dave said, it's not likey they are worn.

The CV joints have stood up well in our 500hp+ cars, some with over 10,000 miles on them. So if your CVs are pooched then take a close look at the CV Boots to be sure no dirt can get in and the joints have suffient lube.

Also on some applications the factory supplied CV spacer has been left out in Getrag applications. This can cause the joints to wear prematurely. If you need the spacers, those are in stock too.

Of course if you're constantly in "stop light Grand Prix mode" with the car, parts will not last as long either.

What really impresses me about the car is that it accelerates nearly as hard from 100>160mph as it does from 20>80mph. Great stuff!

Cheers
