General ? to CAV owners

I am new to this forum and have a simple question.

If you had it to do over would you buy a CAV?

I have been admiring these machines for sometime and am admiring of the workmanship, but a little curious about the company. I know they have gone thru some iterations of owners etc.etc. but simply do you feel the integrity, quality,of the car you have today would warrant buying another one?

Re: General ? to CAV owners

I have had my early CAV #14 for 3 months or so now and have put 1600 miles on it(it only had 400 when I got it) and I can say without a doubt that I would buy another and recommend it to friends. The later cars and the Futura cars have some nice upgrades of which mine has now. The fit a finish ,quaility and drivability of my car is outstanding and I assume the newer cars are even better. I recently had a look at the new SPF and my car was comparable to it. I am pretty objective and would be very outspoken if I felt any car I bought was below the expected standard especially at this price point. PS; it appears the new owners of CAV are being very supportive of the older models, I think this speaks well for the company. chuck smith

Re: General ? to CAV owners

Thanks, for the info Chuck. I have followed the CAV evolution for a number of years. The cars do appear to be gorgeous and extremely well built. I was just curious as I have been looking to purchase a GT40 for several years, but can't seem to pull the trigger, to many other "projects" but I do have new Roush just beggin to go fast.

Re: General ? to CAV owners

I think I would although it would be a very difficult choice against a SPF.
Now, mine is an older CAV (#29) and I really have not seen one of the newer models. From all accounts they are spectacular.

Re: General ? to CAV owners

My impression after seeing the SPF is that it did not offer enough difference to justify the 10-12K price difference. Very nice car no doubt but that buys you a RBT 6 speed.

Re: General ? to CAV owners

I have an early mono (#8) with few upgrades relative to the latest CAVs, and, even with this car in its present state I can conclusively say the CAV is a superior car. Build quality is outstanding. The car drives very well, even on the hairy edge, with no bad habits or issues. The CAV will also accommodate a taller driver (I'm six two and have head room to spare).

Buy a CAV - you won't be disappointed!

Thumbs up Re: General ? to CAV owners

I think the best thing about a CAV is the relative production numbers, they will have produced 32 cars this year which is helping gaurantee longevity and henceforth support for the product.

Although there has been a complete redevelopment of the suspension etc. you can see that aftersales parts and upgrades can be sourced from CAV Canada for the older design. Also there are a number of individuals out there continually upgrading like Bob Childress. These give you peace of mind knowing you can get support on small part runs. Not saying that this is exclusive to CAV but for the moment it's probably ahead in this department.

Agree with Ray about SPF, they have a history of build quality albeit with Cobra, Daytona and Noble. It comes back to the mass production and support.

To answer the question on CAV though, Yes! I would buy again and recommend it.

Steve

Re: General ? to CAV owners

Thanks one and all for your reply's. I think a CAV will make a nice christmas present for myself. Now I just got to get rid of some of my garage queens, and projects, and stuff.. besides I might even let her sit in it.

Re: General ? to CAV owners

Hi Steve,

Thanks for mentioning CAV Canada. We've been with the cars since early 2003 and have seen continuous improvements made to the new production by the great folks at Autofutura.

Also CAV Canada is always working on new parts to extract the ultimate performnce from pre s/n 100 cars. Look for announcements very soon.

So Royal D you're in good hands

Cheers
