I read the story first and got all excited then i saw the pics and came back down to reality.

I think in the video (DVD ) Of This Time tomorrow (the 1966 Lemans) these "GT40" were being raced by children around what looked like a go kart track. I believe there was another "car" a version of the 1965 330P2 Ferrari racing against them. I also have two postcards from a museum in the USA showing both these cars (I found the Ferrari postcard) the museum is Frederick C Crawford Auto Avaition Museum Western Reserve Historical Society University Circle, Cleveland, Ohio 44106 The Ferrai looks like a companion to the Ford.
