Rep Power: 2 | Re: FAV Data Plate (UK) The serial plate on my P/1005, and on P/1008 were different from the one being offered. They measured about 3 1/4 inches wide and about 1 1/4 high (memory here sorry not exact) and said FORD MOTOR COMPANY on the top line, second line said CHASSIS No. in smaller type, with an unpainted place for a hand stamped number, and under that was a third line saying ENGINE No. and a blank space for a stamped in engine number. Don't know what came before or after, but those two are gospel.

Rep Power: 29 | Re: FAV Data Plate (UK) It is probably best not to use a data plate identical to the original to avoid accusations of fraud unless you have a real FAV built car. If so you wouldn't be looking on eBay for a replacement data plate anyway.
Just an alternative way to look at it. But, the guy shouldn't claim a "truley authentic look" either!
Lynn

Rep Power: 17 | Re: FAV Data Plate (UK) Lynn,
With respect, given the prices, I don't think a plate would convince any prospective buyer of a GT40 that the car in question was original.
Another "stick on" to impress the less knowledgeable in my opinion.

The less knowledgeable are always fun to talk to. Show them the stuff. Education, its a great thing.

PS: I have had people come up to my Cobra and ask me "what is it?".....and me being the honest person I am, I told him its a Fiat! |

I also usually tell them it is Fiero or VW based, depending on my mood at the time.

Rep Power: 17 | Re: FAV Data Plate (UK) I don't know about the plate, but the door slam catch is kidney shaped and from a Rover 75 Cyclops and different from these two.
FAV used a lot of UK production car parts however these two cars are very close together in series so maybe the car shown had a retrofit catch later ?
The car below is P1008.
