New to The GT40 Forum

Joined several months ago to get info and ideas about buying a 40. I've been a Corvette guy for over 40 years and wanted something different this time. Purchased CAV#55 in February of this year and am having a good time with the car.

I've had several chances to ask questions about upgrades and minor problems. The membership responses have been great, concise and has helped every time.

I also belong to the Corvette Forum and have been helped and offered advice for many years. I still have four vettes. Great group and extremely helpful. So far, my experience with the GT40 Forum has been equal to my corvette friends. Being a member and being able to ask questions of the 40 community, makes ownership very enjoyable. Thanks.

I have a Guard 18:33 First Gear for a Porsche 930 Transmission. This is a taller ratio than stock and will give you more usable power in 1st gear.

This gear is practically brand new. It was installed in a transmission and I don't believe it has ever been ran. The syncro hub is brand new.

These gears go for ~$1000 new. The syncro hub is another $150.

Asking $900 shipped. Paypal preferred.

Hello all,

I thought I would sign up to this forum as it does seem to have lots of very interesting info about all things GT40. I will most likely never have an opportunity to own one - real or replica - as time/money/themissus/ seem to swallow any savings I get to scrabble together, but I've loved them since being a kid way back in the early 70's and look forward to reading loads of stuff round here. And maybe posting occasionally too.

Been lurking on here a bit. Looking into the SL-C for 50% street/track. Low on time and space, so may go with a more turnkey approach then wrench on it myself after. I would miss the experience building myself, but plan to scratch build something at some point. Had sportbikes in my 20's and sportcars for 30's. Love my tuned 997tt for the last 2yrs and plan to keep it. Looking for something more raw and track focused I can actually beat up a bit without the value tanking or high dollar repairs. Would love a high reving exotic sound, like a 3rotor, but definitely, I am a HP junky...performance has to be there too.

Looking forward to being more active on here :)

Thank you all for this wonderful forum! I've been reading for a longer period and since my build is soon going to start I want to keep you updated on a different project!

sorry to disappoint you all this early... It's not going to be a GT40, but with similarity to your cars. :shy:

Because the road admission regulations in the Netherlands are pretty strict to keep the original road approval and not have to get a new type approval we can only change a small part of the chassis (or body)

For about 12 years I'm building fast and race diesel engines for older cars. I've been building mechanical fuelpumps for TDI engines so that people can build them in their old cars without the electronics.
This is hobby for me and the earnings I use to pay for my own builds.

On my site are some pictures of projects: Smoketail Supplies. I hope to have a shop online within some months, but first I need to straiten things out with tax in the Netherlands.

For work I'm manager manufacturing engineering at John Deere the Netherlands and I'm travelling often to Iowa (des Moines) where our sister factory is.

Before this job and others I've been a Catia V5 CAD engineer for 7 years and I'm quite experienced with other CAD systems. I can make strength calculations and do simulations. From home we got a machine shop and I got friends that can CNC mill and latch and have good welding capabilities. Next to what I can do myself.

I got the goal to build a new car for myself and to show what I can do to my customers.

The idea is to build a sprint / trackday kitcar based on a beetle from 1963. With a mid places 2.5 V6 24v TDI engine with mechanical injection and a 01E transmission.

So I have to redesign the chassis to adapt the engine and be strong enough without altering a lot to the current design. WOW.... :shifty:

This Thursday the original Beetle will roll into my barn and from there I'm going to build.

I will keep you all updated if you are interested in this in a project topic.
