I had a chance to install RCR's a/c brackets with a Sanden SD7. Let's just say that access after the engine is in the vehicle can be trying. My left arm looks Like I ran it thru a sticker bush/blender.

Just a heads up - if you're planning on a/c it would behoove you to mock it up and install it to the motor prior to chassis install. Would have been a piece of cake if done on an engine stand.

Since I've been on this Forum, I've read every build thread several times and I'm constantly amazed by the creative innovative ingenuity of the talented builders on this site. Having personally committed the classic mistake of “over building”, I'm reminded that creativity and innovation and just being different all cost bucks...big bucks!

With my SL-C delivery getting closer, I wondering if I'm going to have the discipline to stick to my budget and be able to say its time to stop and be content with a nicely appointed finished car at a realistic recoup-able price? Or will I shoot for perfection and attempt to do an exquisite car at a realistic non-recoup-able price?

My question: are any of you talented SL-C builders concerned that you “over built” (over spent your potential market place) to the extent that it will be impossible to recoup the dollars you've expended. I realize that cars (most cars) are not a gold standard investment; so I'm not talking about making a profit or even getting paid for my labor. I'm just talking about getting reimbursed for parts, materials, machining costs, etc. Or do you believe that because of the rarity and uniqueness of the SL-C , it will defy established “over build” rules most other cars are subjected to?

Hello everyone, just recently came across the SL-C and this site and great info on here from some very knowledgeable people by the looks of it.

After reading many of the threads on here and doing a search I still have a question to which I have been unable to locate an answer and I'm hoping someone might be able to answer.

I am giving much thought to acquiring one of these fine machines but I don't want a track car only so I'm wondering if anyone has managed to get one of these on the road in Ontario, plated and insured, and if so how much of a hassle was it? I know registering a kit car in ontario can me quite a pain from the research I've done but I'm wondering if anyone has successfully done so. Like I said I don't want a track car only and therefore don't want to build one only to end up with a fine finished machine that I can't put on the road.

Thank you so much in advance.

Cheers.

Minimizing wing wobble

Are they any nifty tricks and tips in order to minimize wing wobble with the race clip and carbon wing?

Are they any nifty tricks and tips in order to minimize wing wobble with the race clip and carbon wing?

In order to allow the stantions to pivot back I glued 5 (on each side) nylon washers between the diffuser and the stantions. Then I ran a diagonal cross brace on each side of the stantions, from the top of left to the bottom of the right, and vice versa. We also added a horizontal cross bar half-way up the stantions for extra support and as a license plate holder.

Stantions are bolted to the diffuser (and gapped with the nylon washers) with 3/8'' bolts.

I'm not quite sure what else i can do to minimize wing wobble because I still get a fair bit - the diffuser really likes to transmit vibration. E.g., with the engine off if i bounce the car's suspension it transmits into a little bit of wing wobble. If I smack the diffuser with my hand, a little bit of wing wobble.

The wing itself is solidly bolted to the stantions, but the vibrations from the engine and any bouncing on the road makes it wiggle a bit.

I tried removing the nylon washers between the diffuser and the stantions and replacing them with a 3/16'' rubber pad. That made the wing wobble A LOT worse....I was hoping the rubber would dampen the vibration, but it didn't ... it seems the best way to minimize it is just to space the stantions off the diffuser, not to try to clam them solidly together.

Out of ideas?

edit: Mine's braced the same way as Cam's, except my diagonal cross bars are mounted a bit lower than his.

Hi guys,

I'm new here and am in the process of trying to decide on my next project. I've got it down to a SL-C and a GTM.

I've done a ton of research and have found the ordering a SL-C with the options I want is quite a bit more expensive than ordering a comparable GTM. However, it seems the quality of the body work is a huge difference. The GTM appears to take a lot of body work to get it ready for paint. Some say up to 600 hrs. of body work alone. I'm not a body guy, so ill have to have the body work done professionally.

I understand the SL-C takes much, much less body prep. Is that what you guys have found?

Also, I consider myself a handy guy, but have never done anything like this. Is this a project an average person can tackle?

Finally, are there any SL-C's in, or around, St. Louis? I'd love the chance to run by and see one before I plan a trip to the factory.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated,
