Rep Power: 21 | Re: GT40 Australia #48 Now Di, there wouldn't be a little double-entendre hidden in there by any chance ? You are a naughty girl !
(And since when did you need vacuum assist to help you put your foot down ?) !!
Can't be long now - have you set up a camp site in PR's front yard yet ?
Kind Regards,

| Re: GT40 Australia #48 I had a double-entendre in a french restaurant once, but they over cooked it. Just when I thought Di had forgotten about this forum she chimes in again. I had better watch what I say. I reckon the first trip to Qld raceway will sort out the men from the girls so to speak.
You are right Peter, Di can be naughty, just one of the many reasons why I love her. |

| Re: GT40 Australia #48 Very happy owner applying rego sticker. A very memorable and auspicious occasion. When I built my first kit car, (a Bollwell) the design rules came into force in the middle of the build and I had no hope of compliance. I ended up selling it as a race car for the cost of the parts. No return on two years of sweat. |

| Re: GT40 Australia #48 The gear box was installed and the car taken yesterday for final tuning of the Autronic EFI on the dyno where we discovered a hydraulic lifter was defective
So now the car is at the engine builder to sort the problem.

Hang in there mate, i hope Santa has room for TWO GT40's in his sleigh. |

| Re: GT40 Australia #48 Jeez Tim, I hope I get it before Santa is due.And no, I haven't driven it yet, I made a pact with myself that I would not drive it until it was set up the way I want it and
completely finished. I know, I know, Di thinks I'm mad too.
But everyone tells me the first drive is better than sex, so I'm trying a little foreplay.(I think that's the bit Di doesn't believe) .P.R. has been ferrying it from place to place.
Anyway the problem with the lifter was traced to a minute piece of silicon partially blocking an oil galley. (Testicle clamp to be applied to culprit) . Flush engine ,change oil and filters, problem solved.(touch wood).
Back to dyno early next week to complete tune. BTW I was very happy with early dyno readings at relatively low revs. I'll share the final readings when I get them. |

| Re: GT40 Australia #48 We restricted the revs to 6000 because of the newness of the engine. Rear wheel HP 355.2. I'm happy with that. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: GT40 Australia #48 Pete, 355 RWHp & you are just "happy with that" ! What on earth would make you ecstatic ?? On reflection, perhaps its best you don't answer that !!
That is some grunt you have there, so all that puckering up for the first drive will pay off - you will go nuts !!
Only around 1000 of your fellow Forum members are eagerly awaiting your first driving impressions (& I bet Di is just about ready to call in the decorators to remove any evidence of you "climbing the walls" for the last few months) !!
Go for it !!!!
Kind Regards,
Peter D. |
