Rep Power: 21 | DRB # 49 I apologize for not posting sooner, but I'm embarrassed
over how little progress I've made so far. Hopefully things will move a little quicker now. Time will tell.
Thanks to Dave Harris for use of his casters. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: DRB # 49 Here's one of the reasons the DRB has been delayed.
There's quite a bit of similarity between the two...
hopefully that will result in some efficiencies on my part.
Again...time will tell. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: DRB # 49 Mike, you are a very, very naughty boy - posting a pic like that ! It got me thinking that if I clear out all of the cr*p from the GT40 build, there would be space for just one more project ! What's happening to me - aaaaahhhh !
I wonder what is the correct collective noun for multiple sports racing cars - a "brace of racers", a "pride of prototypes", a "herd of historics", etc. ?
Absolutely bloody beautiful !!
Kind Regards,
Peter D. |

Bill,
The yellow peril behind the plastic is the T-3.
It's been banished to the cold side of the garage.
That's another reason the DRB hasn't progressed.
It took me an enternity to get someone to complete
the exhaust system (stiffed by George) at a reasonable
cost. And the rear clip must be repainted, which
will have to wait until warm weather returns.
The T-3 was a very difficult build, during which
I learned a lot about component car construction.
Hopefully that will help me during the DRB/Lola build.

It's a long and sad story...but there may yet be a happy ending.
The next two weeks will tell.

You last stated that the next 2 weeks would tell if you were having a happy ending. This was 3 weeks ago. How is it going?
Cheers

Rep Power: 21 | Drb # 49 Well the T-3 is finally done ( for sale !), so I can get back to work on the
DRB. It's also for sale (two daughters in college), but realistically I don't expect to sell it until it's at least driveable. Car buyers tend either to want
projects they can invest their own sweat equity in...or they want to just
hop in and drive. Not a big demand for expensive cars that don't run.
Anyway the suspension is in, brakes are in, engine/trans in, and now starting on the wiring. The DRB of course is based on the G50...but having (3) 016's
laying in the garage I decided to go that route instead. A simple notching
of the rear cross-member and raising the engine a bit did the trick.
You can see the shafts angle forward slightly...but not too bad.
Happy Holidays to all.

Rep Power: 21 | Re: DRB # 49 I spent nearly all Winter on the wiring...combination of insufficient
will power...ice cold concrete floor...and my back hating to crawl
under the dash. Anyway it's done and I'm now testing the circuits,
and of course I've hit a snag....the wiper motor doesn't work.
It was supplied by DRB...presumably from a passenger car...maybe a "Lazer" ?
Does anyone have any idea ? Hopefully there is a crossover to a US made car,
although I'm a bit worried since the wiper is stamped "made in Australia".
I'll post a photo as soon as my daughter returns my camera !
Thx
MikeD

Peter at DRB now has a better type of wiper setup with a cable system .
It is much easier to fit (I am told after I have completed mine )
Don't know brand names but it would have to be compatable with the switch used on the steering column.
Hope this may be of help.

I did not use the DRB column....I installed an Aftermarket and am using
my own switches.
The actuator rods and pivots are already in place, so I really don't want to convert to Lucas style cable drive $$$.
It would really be nice if I could come up with a similar motor in the US.
I am also looking for someone to repair the one Peter supplied....but so far no takers.

I used a laser wiper motor/ laser steering column/ laser wiring harness so all works well. If you want a Laser wiper motor let me know and I'll post you one if you like.
