SteveB MDA MKII Build Diary

MDA MkII series II chassis

Mark Sibley of MDA, renowned for epic journeys, delivered first stage of my project to build a MkII. Mark was still his usual chearfull self even after 300 miles and the maze of narrow local roads to find our remote location.

My thanks to Mark for his advice and patience with all my queries. Is up to me now to get out the tools and get on with the job. I will try to post some details as the project progresses.

There will be thunder in the hills

Steve

Looking good Steve - I haven't seen that rubber boot over the steering column/bulkhead before? Did you install or MDA? I'll have to ring Mark for one.

Keep up the good work

I cut out the clearance hole with a hole saw, then made a 3mmthick ali ring and fitted it with rivnuts / tapped into the 40mm x 40mm. the boot is Ford Transit van gearlever gaiter cut and trimmed to suit. It works quite well!.

Next is the brake lines etc

Some progress feels good

Hi Steve - thanks for the info and yes, there is always a great feeling behind accomplishment, no matter how big or little the job it's nice to progress.

It's a great feeling to be a part of the GT40 community, no matter who builds the car, we are lucky to have all of them to help fullfil our dreams.

Keep the pics coming!

Cheers

Passenger footrest

My MkII MDA has the adjustable pedal box mounts on both sides. This is ideal for a foot rest on the passenger side

The Donnington show today was a chance to see some 40's for inspiration. The show was a great event. So here are a couple of shots, also a shot of some dash vents.

A bit more progress with the doors, doors and locks are a fiddly job but look OK. The mounts for the door catch plates still need smoothing and radius edges but sit nicely solid and will polish up.
The mastercylinder feed pipes need to go under the bulkhead and angled fittings were needed. This allows the adjustable pedal box to go to its full extent.

A few pics to show the items

Another batch of bits due from MDA so more progress soon

Hi

Here are some photos of the recent progress.

The engine is ready for a trial fit to check clearances etc, the injection kit is on after I re-wrapped the loom with heat protection ;looks a lot better than the black split plastic conduit that came with the Edelbrock kit.
I have to find a home for the swirl-pot, it all looks very tight.
I expect to have a problem with the distributor cap very close to the bulkhead,as the MSD dizy item supplied in the Edelbrock kit has the large cap. It is an MSD billet item, I do not have much info on these items, anybody made the change to the small cap? can it be done easily with standard bits?

The lights are trial fitted with some Marchal lights in the lower recesses

Lots more to do !!!

Steve

The engine is in for a trial fit to check out he available space for ancillaries, Hmmm looks a bit tight in places. I can get the hose lengths made up now.
I have trial fit the body panels for a bit of self motivation.
So who else sits in and goes brrrm brrrm! ?
