Sandy,

The car looks amazing!!! I like the choice of fasteners for the light covers/windows!
Did you see the pictures of it that someone posted on the FFR forum from the Detroit show??

Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11

Hi Sandy - Is there any way I can get you to take a couple more pictures of the linkage as it connects to the shifter shaft on your transmission?

The pictures above have so much flash, I can't see how the linkage connects to the shifter shaft.

The reason I ask is because I am currently modifying a G50/03 to fit my RCR-40 and in the process I am shortening the shifter shaft. Currently there is a flat machined on the end of the shaft (it looks like a D when looking at it from the end) - I'm curious if I need to re-machine that flat in the new "Shortened" shaft..

Thanks for your help...

If you want to email them - that would work too. rvandeloo (at) gmail.com

Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11

Some Work on the car, started the second panel and breaker wire job. Pics of the Eaton switches and Klixon breakers. First pic is the Centroid fuel tank sensor which replace the leaver style that come with the kit. Why, because I like them :-) The old gauges are still in the dash, new ones and the wire job coming next.

A long way to go and a short time to get there - Willy Wonka

Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11

Here is the last couple from this evening work. Wired up most of the gauges to pig tails, then started on the small panel.

The funny thing is that I think every build has a picture like this of the wiring mess before it is cleaned up.

Jim - I love the Eaton Switches, very well made and worth the price for piece of mind. I will get into that mess of switches very soon

Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11

Actually did some work tonight, wife out of town, got some stuff from the UPS guy. Chose an easy job, make the air filter. The carb height is pretty close to the rear of the back window. Came out a little shy of 3" height at the middle of the float bowl. Makes for a small filter. Decided filter is out for now, got a Gaffrig Flame arrestor for marine applications. Problem is that they come in 2" 2.5" and 3". Well not exactly, they also include an extra .5" for a nice flange that protrudes from the bottom so add that to all of them. Called them and they sent me an extra lid that is flat and I made a hokie turn table with a screw in the middle of the lid fastened to a 2x4 (not sure what the metric version is...). Fired up the plasma cutter and made a new base by spinning the disk while plasma-ing. Came out better then expected. Pictures coming as it's after midnight, but here is what the Gaffrig looks like. Built out of all stainless and nicely polished. The mesh is actually 3 parts, Outer ring, inner ring and a coil of fine mesh. Seemed a bit on the restricted so I did a single loop of the inner mesh. Good for flow, Bad likely for the plastic rear window .

Fran -

That is a Edelbrock Super Victor. I it is about and inch taller then the Victor Jr. No I don't have a 2" spacer under the carb

Here are the pic's from my hack job on the filter, oops semi-functional flame arrestor...

Sandy,

Check this out, it made an inertia dyno proven +11hp increase on my 470 HP 383 SBC !

It would be the perfect compliment to you're flame arrester.

Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11

Interesting. I have a Piper Cross air filter on the Mustang that has that as part of the top lid assembly. That was the bad thing about removing the nice curved riser on the flame arrestor base I'm guessing it did some of that. It looks like it would have to be hacked to fit and might be too close to the top of the carb. The height is 2.5" and they say 3.3" is min. I like the idea...

Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11

Another of the dash as it was in progress, can't see them too well, but the black block with the 2 allen screws on the left is the master relay (75 amp) which is fed by the master breaker far right (100amp can't see it at all) and the relay section in the middle which houses the starter relay, horn relay, electronic turn flasher (blue), fan relay and a spare. All wire Teflon and likely larger then needed. A rats nest for sure...

Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11

Here are some of the 'mostly finished' dash and labels. I didn't go the route that BillD did, just too lazy, I ended up just getting a Dymo Embossing labeler from Ebay and going to town.

Pic 1 Left Panel - Bottom of panel (squeezed in the horn button)
Pic 2 Left Panel - Master On/Off, and "Go Dog Go" (starter) button
Pic 3 Right Panel - Switches
Pic 4 Right Panel - Breakers

And no the 'Wipe' button is for the Window

Very nice Sandy.

I have to ask........ Is there special significance or a story behind 'GO DOG GO'? It seems to keep cropping up in your photos.......

Cheers
