| Re: Rob's RCR40 Build Thanks Gents....
Dutton, I Agree....The hard lines were a bit time consuming, but I much prefer the cleaner look it provides. (Hopefully it provides the appropriate self-portrait... ...)
Chris, the exh is from Fran.

| Re: Rob's RCR40 Build Hey guys... thought I'd give a little progress report....
Fuel filler on one side is done, decided to make it out of pipe, not soft tubing. Both filler caps are now mounted.
Coolant system is almost done. I made a reservoir tank by cutting down a Pantera tank, but still need to mount a high tank for an air trap. We'll see how it works out. Got it all worked out...in my head at least...
Looking fwd to getting the coolant system completed in so I can run it and dial in the carbs.

| Re: Rob's RCR40 Build Well....fairly productive weekend. A couple set backs, but mostly forward progress. The PIA set back is that I had an oil leak at my filters that I just couldn't seem to lick.... ended up dropping the dual filter assy down and found there was a porosity leak in the casting on the top side (not visible when mounted). So....that will have to get swapped out. Total of probably 4-5 hours waaastedddd..
Mounted up the pedals, bumped out the seat back wall for clearance to the water pump, finished dialing in the shifter, a few other odds and ends....
Then, the highlight of the weekend, I ran here around the block a few times. By the third lap, there were people standing on the front porches, and a few followed me back to the house....too cool...!!!
Carbs are balanced, but not yet dialed in. Running rich, but good enough to drive. The real trick was running that beast off a "throttle string". That was indeed tricky. Now that the pedals are mounted, I will order the appropriate length cable this week.
That's all for now......

| Re: Rob's RCR40 Build Rob: Very nice video and pics of your progress. I spent the day in part planning the placement of the fuel pumps and related hardware. I plan to use aluminum tubing as well. Looks really good!

| Re: Rob's RCR40 Build Thanks guys...
It was long awaited and as much fun as I had anticipated. I didn't want to stop taking laps around the neighborhood. My lap times were dropping quite consistantly...
Can't wait to do it again next weekend!

| Re: Rob's RCR40 Build Randy... I'd say my mother didn't raise a fool, but that's not really the story. My mother actually said "G- damn it, stop leaving burn outs in front of the house." So I prompty starting doing it in front of the neighbors house. Seems I was the only one amused by this change in strategy.
