Re: SouthernGT No8

Finally managed to get the floor fitted yesterday. Started by insulating the tunnel with floor and tunnel shield from thermo tec. I then wrapped both pipes in Thermo Gaurd FR double sided. This gave a really good snug fit of the pipes in the tunnel. I then applied sikoflex to the chassis then with my neighbours help lifted the floor in position. Some more rivetting will be required as some were too short where the floor support is and where the pedal unit fits so I have temporary ally rivets in place at the moment. Will turn the chassis over early next week and begin the panelling.
Will post some pictures tomorrow.

Re: SouthernGT No8

Done some work finally this week on the panels. I have to say the fit of the panels is first rate only needing the odd trim here and there to fit around welds etc. Any questions I have directed at SouthernGT this week with regard to the panels etc have been answered immediately. Excellent service.
I have also recently fitted to my current road car some deep nostrils (from Wealden Engineering) to aid cooling and have today added a panel to make use of the back of the nostrils as storage space.

Regards Martin.

Martin, brilliant idea to add the storage space into the nostrils, will be incorporating that in the future to my panels, Frank

Re: SouthernGT No8

Made a new set of inner sill panels today with the help of a friend who specialises in that sort of thing. I wanted to replicate as close as possible to the origional panels as I reasonably could. I am very pleased with the way the panels turned out.

Excellent work. The faux sill panels have become very popular. Keep us posted

Martin,
That's great work. I wish I had that levl of craftsmanship. Great build so far, nice to see one of Mick's chassis being put together so well.

Re: SouthernGT No8

Cheers Brett. Have fitted the passenger side panel today and also made and fitted the cover plates. I'm carrying on with the remainder of the panneling which is very time consuming but extremely rewarding. Once all the fitting is done I am going to get the panels etch primed and painted with satin black two pack paint then fit them.

Re: SouthernGT No8

Today got back to work on the car after a bit of diy on my house. Fitted the dropped floor pan, gear change and steering column. Then started on the panel work inside the cockpit. More tomorrow.

Done a bit more panel work today. Very time consuming but rewarding. Holley the cat came along to check out the rear suspension mounts.

Bill
My problem is that I am a perfectionist and it can be a pain being so at times. Hopefully it will aid the build. How's your paint job coming on.

Martin, looking good! Your perfectionism is a great trait in this build and is really paying off. I hope Holley the cat doesn't give you problems with emissions!

Re: SouthernGT No8

Holley goes well on kitekat and seems to be enjoying the build. Bit more work today around the offside rear wheel, tricky area to panel but sorted in the end. I will make some of the panels removable to help maintenance in the future.
