GTD dismantling

Just thought I'd share some pics of my GTD and it's current state.
Once the car is stripped back to a bare chassis I will start the work on it and will probably start a thread in the builders forum.

Re: GTD dismantling

Simon, could you post a couple of pictures of the steering rack area like the last one with a bit of better detail before you remove it. One kind of centered and straight on looking into the void where the steering rack lives would be of some help to me. Also a close up of one of the two mounts would be good too.

Thanks in advance, Howard.

Perfect! Thanks Brian. I have a mod in mind and I will need to take apart the cover over the steering rack. The pictures help refresh my memory.

Re: GTD dismantling

It is amazing how messy a dismantling can be. I thought mine would never look clean again when I started dismembering mine.

Re: GTD dismantling

why are you car stripping it back to a bare chassis ?

you could sell and buy a New nicer car easy

A put together low end car it worth more then most nice kits and parts cost?

PS just Asking ....not trying to be mean ...

Re: GTD dismantling

I want to imrove on the car that I have. The car was built badly (IMHO) and I decided to pull it apart to put right some things. As I progressed, I decided there were more and more bits not done "properly", so have decided to start from scratch. As with a lot of people, I'm working with a tight budget, but there are some things I want to get right from the off. I'm going to alter the rear of the chassis to allow the engine/box to sit lower, as well as a couple of other small alterations. I'll then re-panel the car in aluminium and start to put things back.
I'm not too worried about authenticity (hey, it's a spaceframe) nor racing/tracking the car. I'm doing things now that I don't want to touch again (chassis/panelling/soundproofing etc) but maybe leaving bits that I can upgrade later on as and when the budget allows, that I can do without major structural alteration.
Simon
