| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 Well thank you Martin.
But in my opinion the kudos really has to go to Andy Sheldon at Tornado Sports Cars, for putting together such a complete and well engineered kit.
Although I have been single minded in purpose since February 9th, when the kit arrived.
That said I have to mention my ever patient bride who is completely supportive of this adventure!
To your point on the potential for corrosion, I don't forsee a huge issue.
The car should go out to paint later this week, so now I just have to pick out a color scheme.
Cheers,
Scott |

| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 Well folks tomorrow starts a new chapter in 875's build ... maybe.
If it does not rain here in Southwick tomorrow afternoon, 875 will be put on a flatbed and driven to a top secret location near Lime Rock Park, for bodywork and paint.
A long time friend of mine who is a member here, does high end body and paint/restoration work.
My involvement from here will be the gopher/grunt/slave to my paintmaster.
Don't worry though progess will still be regularly and frequently updated.

| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 I 'Almost' feel sorry for you Scott, most painters I know become obsessive slave masters when a friend offers to do the donkey work.
Always knew Merc's were slow, but that puts a new spin on it ---'Slower than a GT40 going backwards'

| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 Jac,
No need for pity.
The bodywork prep/fit on a Tornado is easy.
Everything just falls into place.
Stay tuned and see.

Wait until you see how easy it is to put the door internals together.
Complete and well engineered.
Next week after the drivers door goes on the progress on the car should speed up a bit.
Still struggling with colors and scheme.
Cheers

| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 Hi All,
The dashboard is now complete, all that remains is installing the pre-terminated wiring harness.
The body/paint work is going smoothly, some pictures soon.

| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 Hi All,
Work at the hangar has been very busy lately, the 2 Falcon Jets have been averaging 85 - 95 hrs per month.
I have not been able to work on 875 as much as I'd like, but here are some progress pictures.
Note the complete door internals as supplied by TSC.
Cheers,

| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 Hi All,
OK so its time to order paint.
Here is what I'm thinking and yes its different than what I originally wanted, but who doesn't change their mind once or twice when it comes to paint!
Almost like chassis 1027;
Belgian Racing Yellow in PPG basecoat/clearcoat
The traditional black-out treatment under the rear window, light lenses, and doors. (Semi-gloss black)
Black-out the three front clip NACA scoops. (Semi-gloss black)
Gloss black "FORD GT" sill stripes.
Not convinced yet on painting 1027's racing stripes .
I've located some chrome repop "F O R D" letters for the nose. They are not exact but what the heck?
Any thoughts? All are welcome positive or otherwise!
Cheers,
S |

| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 Scott,
Personally, I would go with just the FORD on the sills.Your colors sound great though.
It's going to be great seeing that baby!

Today some more progress.
The front clip is ready for its final coat of primer.
The rear clip is being block sanded with a guide coat.
Doors are next.

Cheers,
S

| Re: Tornado TS40 #875 Hi Scott,
Thanks for putting all the photos on here. I havn't seen a build log from someone who is building a car without doing loads of there own mods. I hope your having loads of fun building the car and have eve more fun driving it! I have one question though, have you had the renault box modified at all i.e. one piece main shaft, modified 5th gear etc? Is it possible to build a genuine 200mph road car with a renault box??
Maybe one day i'll save up enough to build a kit as you are doing!!
Happy building.
