Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Scott, I have seen the color you are talking about. Personally I think it looks better in the Ford Edge commercial than it does in real life. Just between you and me I like the red one you have for an avatar! All fast cars should be painted red!

What day of the week is best for a visit? I don't want to wait until it shows up at Lime Rock this summer.

The wife is talking about quitting her job which could put the kiboshes on ordering a new ZR1. So there could be a blue oval in my future after all!

Hi John,

The pre cut alloy panel blanks are supplied mirror polished on one side from Tornado Sports Cars.

To keep them looking good I will use "Never Dull".

Todays accomplishments;

Mocked up the 100% alloy radiator for attach holes and fitment.

Installed the rear wilwoods on both sides.

John, I use this stuff called Bombs Away. It is a product marketed to the motorcycle community. I use it to polish the aluminum spinner on my airplane and it works great. Easy on and off. Just click on the link below.

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Scott -

May I ask how the fans are mounted? The reason I ask is if they are mounted using plastic ties that run through the radiator fins I strongly recommend using a different mounting method. With the vibrations associated with running the car the ties tend to wear through the fins causing small leaks in the radiator (ask me how I know). If the fans are just set in place for the photo then no worries.

Regards,
Dave L

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Hi Dave,

The fans are mounted on the black crossmember running beneath them.

Here is the rest of this evenings work...

Mounted the heater/demister.
Installed the speedo cable.
Installed the wheels for wheel alignment tomorrow.
Installed the engine oil cooler adapter.

Tomorrow I will wheel the car outside and turn it around for the engine installation.

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Today I put the car down onto blocks at ride height and set the wheel alignment.

Then I installed the coil-overs and rolled it outside to turn it around for next weeks engine install.

All this in just 50 days.

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Scott,

Thanks again for the very detailed build reports and pix. Your progress and commentaries make the TS40 look like a very straight forward project. Can I ask, did you set toe, camber and caster for street driving or track.......and did you set the wheels yourself?

Thanks again for letting the GT40 world into your garage. Please keep us posted!!
