Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Hi Gregster,

Yes wheel alignment was performed by me in accordance with the TS40 Build Manual.

It is very simple and straight forward to do.

The car is set up now for street driving.

Hopefully that will be soon.

Cheers,
S

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Its been a few days since my last update.

Here is what has been accomplished;

Installed the flywheel and clutch assy.

Installed the bellhousing and transaxle.

Installed the clutch slave cly. and bled system.

Installed the starter motor.

Installed the rod type shifter linkage, I must say its quite positive and slick with a very short throw.

Installed the half shafts.

Installed the exhaust system.

Pressure tested the cooling system, to ensure no leaks before engine coolant fill and subsequent start.

Almost ready for body work

Cheers,
S

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Thanks Bill

Tonight an important step in a Tornado build, aligning the roof spider.

Doors have been rough trimmed, the winshield dropped in for fit then the front apron can be trimmed, then riveted and bolted down.

Also installed the spider to rear clip, gap adjustment stops. These have been just rough installed as they get finished adjusted/trimmed during paint.

Tomorrow installation of the wiper motor/drive setup and installation of the front clip and hinge system.

69 Days.

Cheers,
S

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

This afternoons work;

Installed the wiper motor and drive cable.

Note the OEM type pre terminated harness end on the motor assy.

Still need to flare the end of the drive tube and cut the cable to length.

Installed front and rear clip scissor stays.

This weekend all the windows/lenses will be fit ... maybe .

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Tonight the the TSC "Twin Pumps and Filters" option was mocked up with fuel lines.

The cockpit closure panels go on at paint, then the filter/regulators get mounted.

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Todays activities;

Started ignition wire routing setup so I can cut the wires to length and crimp the ends then put the boots on.

Layed out the rivet pattern for the left cockpit closure panel and fit the oil cooler then fabbed the hoses.

Fit the coolant purge tank and hose setup.

Body and paint soon

Good Day Mr. Calabro,

Your pace is a little intimidating!!! Really appreciate the attention to detail you are allowing us to see. However....What do I see in the background of one of your last engine shots? Is that an MB, must be your every day car.

Thanks again and please keep us posted!

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Just a quick update today.

Rigged the throttle cable for the Webers.

It is visible on the front of the engine with the spiral anti - chafe wrap on it.

Re: Tornado TS40 #875

Ok todays progress;

I cut all the openings in the dash for gauges switches etc. It just needs some very minor sanding then it will be painted wrinkle flat black. After that I will install the pre-terminated dash harness and gauge/switch/indicator light set.

Familiarized myself with the door kit hardware. It comes complete with interior & exterior handles, lock cyl's, latches, strikers etc and notice the glassed in alloy sheet in the exterior handle recepticle.

I cut out and fitted the left and right air intakes under the rear window. They will be glassed in at body/paint.

I installed the front & rear plug and play wiring
harnesses.

I cut my ignition wires to length and crimped the ends. I think they look good over the rocker covers and between the IDF's. Don't worry they will be secured from interfering with the throttle linkage.

Scott,
If only my progress could be so brisk and still so proffesional. Nice job indeed. Do you have any concerns regarding using copper cooling pipes with aluminium rad ? I'm no expert but just maybe worth a mention.
Best regards and in admiration,

Martin
