Rep Power: 1 | Re: Good bye Locost 7 Hello GT40!! This is the Audi 5N trans I found off Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market. It looks to be in fair shape no cracks or what looked like major oil leaks. Freight was about half of what the transaxel cost

Dave good onya mate , good to see i'm not the only convert, i have just sold a Seven type race car myself, a very quick one, with a 300hp Toyota 3SGE and quaife 6 speed sequential box, and a rear engined race car has always been my dream also , but instead of a GT40 [which has always been a dream] i'm building an LMP type replica. and it looks like it will be LS1 and G50 combo in the rear.
will watch your progress with renewed enthusiasim

The rear chassis section has been cut and tacked in place. Now I am running into time problem my schedule is getting quite full. 12 days to my wedding and moving house holds and such. Luckly my future wife (Luana) is supportive of the GT40 project.

BMW wheels, Dodge caravan seat,Porsche nose and some side skirt for the wing. I am leaving for my wedding today wonder what it will look like when I return!

Rep Power: 1 | Re: Good bye Locost 7 Hello GT40!! Hey Guys:
I got a smile a mile wide today. A freight truck driver called as I was going out to take my lunch. He had a skid of body parts for a GH 40. Ater guiding him to our hidden loading dock. We unloaded the coolest thing I have gotten so far. The spider, doors, side pods and dash where on a skid. After a few minutes of flying cling and bubble wrap. I was able to set the parts on my chassis. I just want to say Thanks to Daytona Bill . The parts are quality and the trim edges are cut nice. I am impressed much better quality than the Locost 7 parts I bought which were not that locost. I'll post some pics a little later

Rep Power: 1 | Re: Good bye Locost 7 Hello GT40!! Took some time to set the body parts on the chassis yesterday. It looks like they will fit as planned with room for adjustment. The main question in your mind when you started welding a scratch built chassis together is will the body parts fit. I widened the seating area of my chassis to 45" which caused the fuel tank side pods to be narrower than other builds. I figured better less fuel than trying stuff 10 pounds of me in a 5 pound sack.
I would like to say Thanks to those forum members that have helped my dream take shape . Thanks Guys

Rep Power: 1 | Re: Good bye Locost 7 Hello GT40!! Well it is summer in Charlotte 90 + degrees so not much progess on the 40 this month.
The 40 will be getting a new home soon as we are closing on our new house on the 8th. I am exicted because we have a three car garage and will have a good working space.
Also a friend of mine does a small cable access tv show about racing. He invited me to go to Holman Moody with him last Saturday. It was cool to see several GT40s in various stages of completion. Lee made us feel very welcome as we chatted about the history of the company and drivers that drove for them.
When I was a young boy I used to read about these great race car drivers, crew chiefs and mechanics. Over the years working in the racing business I have gotten to meet and talk with a lot of them. Like Smokey Yunick, Bobby and Donnie Allison, Rex white, Johnny Benson, Bill (the maverick) Golden, Steve Kinser, Harry Gant, Ernie Irvan and many more.
These guys always have good stories and most love to share them. For me is always makes history come alive.
